Darron Gibson feels his former team are coming to Goodison Park on Monday to get revenge for last season’s 4-4 game. Reported in the Liverpool
Gibson suggests that the 4-4 draw between the sides towards the end of the last season was the turning point in the title race and United will want to right that wrong. He said: “They try to win every game but maybe there is a bit of anger there because the game against us lost them the league really, but we will go out and try and get the right result. They would have been wounded to lose the title to anyone but especially losing it the noisy neighbours as they are known.”
The 24-year-old left Old Trafford for £500,000 in January in search of first team football. Since making the switch he has played 11 league games and scored once after he only managed one game in an United shirt in the first half of the season.
The Irishman will know all too well the feeling in the Red Devils’ dressing room ahead of Monday’s fixture but after a good preseason he is raring to go. He added: “Pre-season has gone really well. In terms of results it has not been exciting but the squad as a hole, everyone is fit, and we are all looking forward to the first game.”
