Arsenal winger Gervinho has backed new teammate Olivier Giroud to shake off his uncertain start to life in the Premier League and succeed with the Gunners, the
Giroud is one of the new faces at the club tasked with accounting for the goals that drained out of the side when Robin van Persie moved to Manchester United, but in the opening two league games of the season Arsene Wenger’s side have failed to score, registering goalless draws at home with Sunderland and away at Stoke City.
Gervinho however feels that Giroud needs more time to settle into English football, with the former Lille winger confident the France international will find his feet eventually. Gervinho said: “I hope the fans show patience towards Giroud…there’s no doubt in my mind that the goals will come. I am totally convinced.
“Giroud couldn’t score goals in the opening games but that’s to be expected because it will take him time to adapt in the system and style.”
Gervinho is beginning his second season at the Emirates Stadium, moving from Ligue 1 a year ago, much as Giroud has done this summer. Gervinho also left the champions of France, then Lille, while Giroud scored the goals that rocketed Montpellier to a shock title victory over the money of Paris Saint-Germain.
