Manchester United are pushing to seal the signing of Sao Paulo and Brazil midfielder Lucas Moura, the
United’s pursuit of Moura has been one of the longest-running of the summer as Sir Alex Ferguson faced competition from across the continent for the signature of the 19-year-old, but the Mail suggests a deal is not far from being reached.
Moura is currently in England as part of Brazil’s Olympics squad. The South Americans have progressed smoothly to the quarter-final stage, winning all three of their group matches. Brazil next face Honduras, having already beaten Belarus, New Zealand and Egypt, who also qualified from Group C.
Lucas has played in all three of Brazil’s matches thus far but has failed to get on the score sheet. Moura is also a senior Brazil international with 15 caps and one goal to his name, having made his bow in March 2011 in a friendly victory over Scotland.
