Mancini not ruling out De Rossi deal

Despite the player publicly expressing his desire to stay at Roma this week, Roberto Mancini has not ruled out the possibility of signing Daniele De Rossi.

According to the Guardian, the Manchester City boss has claimed that he doesn’t know if a deal can happen but has suggested that while the window is open then things can change.

When posed a question about De Rossi opting to stay in Italy, Mancini said: “I don’t know this. It is difficult but I don’t know what can happen. From my experience while the window is still open anything can still happen for every player.”

But he has revealed that Javi Martinez will not be joining the Premier League Champions, admitting: “It’s difficult, his cost is too big.”

City have only signed one player this summer in the form of Jack Rodwell for £15m. Mancini has expressed his distaste and not being given the funds to pursue some top targets, sighting Robin van Persie and Eden Hazard as players he missed out on.

The change in policy at the Etihad may be the beginnings of a movement towards the imminent Financial Fair Play rules being introduced in the coming seasons. This week Adam Johnson has been sold to Sunderland with that money expected to be used to sign Scott Sinclair from Swansea.
