Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini hopes to follow the capture of Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell with more new faces before the close of the transfer window, the
The signing of Rodwell, put at £15m by the Mirror but officially for an undisclosed sum, is City’s first of the summer. Mancini had made little effort to hide his frustration at being unable to add to his squad prior to the Rodwell transfer and now the England international has signed in at the Etihad Stadium, Mancini is keen for more.
“Every manager is unhappy when, one week before the start of the season, you haven’t bought any players,” Mancini said, adding: “But I hope we are working and, this week, we can do something about this. We are looking for other players. I don’t know which players, but we are interested in all good players.”
The Mirror claims the injury suffered by City defender Micah Richards will spur Mancini into pushing through a move for Liverpool’s Agger, the Denmark centre-back who has been linked with an Anfield exit this summer.
Rodwell, 21, joins City for a £12m fee up front with a further £3m guaranteed, and the possibility of another £5m if certain targets are achieved by the midfielder and his new employers.
