Modric move from Tottenham to Madrid completed in 24 hours

Luka Modric’s long-awaited move from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid should be completed in the next 24 hours, the Daily Mirror has reported, with Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas then expected to spend money replacing the Croatia international.

Modric will move to La Liga for £33m, allowing Villas-Boas to bring in the likes of Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Willian and Fulham’s Moussa Dembele. Villas-Boas has himself admitted it is only a matter of time before Modric departs, with the Mirror claiming Willian is top of the Portuguese’s wish list for new faces.

Willian is said to be rated at around £20m while Dembele’s contract at Craven Cottage contains a £15m release clause. Villas-Boas turned to the Belgium international after being priced out of a move for Joao Moutinho, the Porto and Portugal midfielder valued by his club at around £30m.

Villas-Boas also revealed that he has not spoken with Madrid Coach Jose Mourinho regarded the Modric deal – the two worked together at Porto and Chelsea before going their separate ways.
