Just days after storming to another gold medal in the 100 metres at the London Olympics, Usain Bolt has issued a come and get me plea to Sir Alex Ferguson – and he’s not kidding. The Daily
The Jamaican star said: “People think I am joking when I say that I would like to play for Manchester United. But if Sir Alex Ferguson called me up and said, ‘OK, let’s do this, come and have a trial and see if you are good enough’ it would be impossible for me to say no.”
This kind of opportunity would not be missed by any fan of any club but Bolt goes one step further than giving an insight into his fantasy career opportunity.
He added: “I wouldn’t take up the challenge if I didn’t think I was good enough. I’m a very accomplished player and know I could make a difference. I’d be the fastest player, but I can play as well. I feel that I really helped Cristiano Ronaldo become a more complete player.”
But it may not just be Bolt who wishes his football career takes off. Given the impressive record the 25-year-old has on the track, taking that form onto a football pitch is sure to help his country. Jamaica currently sit 63rd in the FIFA World Rankings and could do with a boost ahead of the World Cup in Brazil in 2014.
