David Platt expects the move to Manchester City will be the making of Jack Rodwell. Reported in the Daily
He said: “Everyone has known about Jack for a long period of time. The longer you keep looking at a player, people will tend to find the flaws and weaknesses. I think he has very good potential and is already a good player now. ”
Platt added: “We feel we have the right platform here to develop his potential to the full. We’ve had an opportunity to take a player who we believe will be of benefit to us not only now, but in the future.”
The 21-year-old first burst on the scene at the tender age of 16 years of age, becoming the youngest player to represent Everton in Europe. He went on to play more than 100 games for the club and scored nine times – though not an attacking midfielder.
His move to Manchester City raised concerns regarding first team opportunities with the likes of Yaya Toure, Gareth Barry and Nigel de Jong already playing his position. But Platt has moved to reject that notion, insisting that the deal is as much for now as it for the future.
