Reports that Manchester City have attempted to usurp Manchester United’s move for Brazil international Lucas Moura have been rejected by the teenager’s current club, Sao Paulo, according to ESPN.
Sao Paulo’s sports director, Adalberto Baptista, however denied the club had been contacted by the Premier League champions. Baptista also rejected the suggestion that a fee for Moura had been agreed with Serie A side Inter, who were said to have arranged a €25m deal.
Baptista insisted that the figure quoted in the Italian media was well short of the mark they are willing to accept for Moura. He said: “We are not aware of [City’s interest] and we have not had contact with them, adding: “We have not received written offers from Inter and that figure should not be enough, since we have already refused an official offer of €32million for our player.”
