Song camp reject claims bad attitude led to Arsenal exit

Claims Arsenal were frustrated with the attitude of Alex Song and were willing to let the midfielder join Barcelona because of it have been forcibly rejected by representatives of the Cameroon international, the Daily Telegraph has reported.

Song is said now to have completed his £15m move to the Nou Camp, having completed a medical on Monday without a hitch. But after news of his departure was confirmed by the Gunners over the weekend reports emerged that Arsenal were happy to see the back of Song because of concerns over his professionalism on and off the pitch.

It was reported that Arsenal’s staff considered Song to be lazy and lacking the discipline to play in midfield, and that he was often late for training. However, a source told the Telegraph that the allegations were made by a senior figure at Arsenal trying to excuse the loss of another high-profile player. Both Song and his agent declined to comment.
