Spurs defender Kaboul out for four months

Tottenham and France defender Younes Kaboul has revealed that he will miss the next four months after undergoing knee surgery.

Speaking on his twitter account, Kaboul said “Morning all, surgery done with success now looking forward to my rehab. should be four months”.

Kaboul had been ruled out of France’s Euro 2012 squad after picking up a knee injury in Spurs’ final game of the season but seemed to have returned this season, playing the full 90 minutes in the Lillywhites’ opening game v Newcastle. However, the decision has been taken at White Hart Lane for Kaboul to undergo surgery and fully rid himself of the issue.

With manager Andre Villas Boas last week attempting to offload Kaboul’s fellow centre back Michael Dawson to Queens Park Rangers, Dawson’s possible departure added to the transfer of Sebastien Bassong to Norwich would leave Spurs shorthanded at the back during Kaboul’s absence.

With just over a day to go until the transfer window closes, Kaboul’s injury may force Dawson to remain at White Hart Lane.
