Tottenham have found agreement with Porto for the signing of long-time target Joao Moutinho, for what the
Moutinho has the experience of 48 caps for Portugal, including being an ever-present in their run to the Euro 2012 semi finals, despite his relatively young age of 25. The midfield playmaker has been on Villas-Boas’ radar all summer as he looks to overhaul his Tottenham midfield following the departure of Luka Modric to Real Madrid.
Having already brought in Gylfi Sigurdsson and Moussa Dembele, the signing of Moutinho, who Villas-Boas has worked with in his time at Porto, is seen as the final piece of the Spurs midfield jigsaw.
The deal had previously stagnated with Porto reportedly demanding in excess of £30m but it would appear that a compromise has been reached with the transfer window shutting at 23.00 tonight.
Moutinho, who provided 3 goals and 7 assists to Porto’s title winning team last season, will certainly not come cheap but Villas-Boas will deem it as a vital investment for his plans for Tottenham to come to fruition.
