Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas has made an approach for Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar as he seeks a replacement for Brad Friedel, the
Lyon and France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris had been Villas-Boas’ preferred option but the Portuguese has had to look elsewhere after growing fears Lloris would prove too expensive a purchase. The former Chelsea boss is however eager to add to the goalkeeper choices in his Tottenham squad.
The Guardian notes that Villas-Boas has had positive things to say about the three senior custodians already at the club – Friedel, Heurelho Gomes and Carlo Cudicini – but that has not stopped him sounding out potential new arrivals. The newspaper also adds that Gomes is likely to ask to leave White Hart Lane on loan before the close of the transfer window.
Inter are understood to be keen to offload Cesar and his £70,000 per week wage, with Villas-Boas considering offering the Serie A side a player in exchange.
