Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach wants Luka Modric’s protracted exit from the club to come to an end quickly as the Croatia playmaker nears a move to Real Madrid, the
Villas-Boas is understood to want the money received for Modric to finance the rest of his rebuilding work at White Hart Lane. The former Chelsea boss has signed already this summer Ajax centre-back Jan Vertonghen and former Swansea City loan player Gylfi Sigurdsson, who joins from Hoffenheim.
First, however, Modric needs to complete his move to La Liga, with Villas-Boas admitting he has identified the player he wants to replace the 26-year-old but also that he is unable to make a move until the Modric saga is at an end. Villas-Boas said: “Losing a player of Luka’s dimension will be dramatic if the club is not able to find the right replacement, but we are looking to strengthen immediately if the transfer goes through.”
Villas-Boas added however that Modric has not been a disruptive influence around the club after his refusal to join the tour of the United States. The midfielder has trained alone since then but Villas-Boas revealed Modric has been in contact with his teammates without a problem.
