Chelsea captain Terry to be fit to play Juventus

John Terry is expected to shake off a knock to his knee and captain Chelsea as they begin the defence of their Champions League crown against Serie A champions Juventus, the Daily Mail has reported.

Terry suffered the blow late on in the weekend’s Premier League draw with Queens Park Rangers and had to have treatment on the pitch. But after training earlier this week Terry is not expected to face a problem in playing at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

The England international famously missed the Champions League final against Bayern Munich after he was sent off in the semi-final win over Barcelona. Terry was forced to watch from the stands as a late Didier Drogba goal took the game into extra time, before the same player converted the match-winning penalty in the subsequent shootout.

Both John Obi Mikel and Juan Mata should also be available for Roberto Di Matteo, after Mikel recovered from a minor back injury following the QPR encounter, while Mata has returned to training after being given a rest by Di Matteo after a hectic summer of Euro 2012 and London Olympics.
