Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has publicly apologised for the loose pass that gifted Juventus their equaliser as the Italian champions came back from 2-0 down to claim a draw at Stamford Bridge in their opening Champions League clash on Wednesday night.
After the defending champions had taken a two goal lead through full debutant Oscar, the Old Lady of Italian football pulled one back through Arturo Vidal before Mikel’s costly error gave Claudio Marchisio the freedom to play in Juve substitute Fabio Quagliarella for the equaliser.

“If I want to make up an excuse, I can,” Mikel said. “But, for me, I gave the ball away. I put my hands up, we move on. I’m sorry about the mistake, but there are no excuses.”
