David De Gea was dropped from the Manchester United first team following his blunder at Fulham, Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted. Reported by the Daily
Ferguson said on the matter: “I think young David made a mistake last week. He knows it. With the form he’s been in, he’s been making some fantastic saves but one error like that could have cost us the game. It’s just a learning process for him and he’ll be back in a couple of weeks after the international break.”
Lindegaard came into the first team for the game against Southampton and although he conceded twice, looked to have a convincing game. Ferguson said: “Anders had his first game. I thought he was a little bit nervous at points but he’s a very good keeper also. I don’t think it’s a big issue but it’s something you have to deal with.
Manchester United will now start their international break following a mixed start to the season. They have picked up six points from a possible nine and have come back from behind in both of their victories.
When they come back to club football, last year’s Premier League runners-up will face Wigan at home before welcoming Galatasaray for their first Champions League fixture of the new campaign. The following game sees them travel to Anfield to renew their rivalry with Liverpool for another season.
