Two sides who opened their Premier League campaigns with victories face eachother in what is a repeat of the last fixture of the 2011-12 season.
Everton shocked Manchester United in the first clash of the season, with a 3-1 win at Goodison Park, and followed that up with another convincing victory away to Aston Villa. The gloss was however slightly taken off with a 2-0 away defeat to West Brom just prior to the international break. A win on Monday evening would see the toffees go level second the table.
Newcastle meanwhile only have the one solitary victory from their first three ties, a 2-1 home win over Tottenham adding to a draw at the Sports Direct stadium with Aston Villa, helping the Magpies to a 13th position spot in the Premier League.
Alan Pardew’s side will be hopeful that defender Fabricio Colloccini will pass a fitness test, and are still waiting on news on Tim Krul’s injury. James Perch is expected to feature.
For Everton transfer deadline day signing Bryan Oviedo is not available due to visa complications, and Darron Gibson is out with a thigh injury.
