Fiorentina deny a deal has been agreed with Man City for Jovetic

Fiorentina have moved to deny that a pre-arrangement has been reached for the sale of star striker Stevan Jovetic to Manchester City once the transfer window reopens in January. According to the Daily Mail, there has been talk that the Montenegro international, who was linked with a host of top European clubs during the summer, is set to make the move to the Etihad Stadium after the two clubs came to a preliminary agreement.

However, Fiorentina’s sporting director Daniele Prade has refuted such speculation: “Jovetic’s buy-out clause? I want to close this issue once and for all. What we will do, will be done in a transparent way. So when there will be news about Jovetic’s contract, we will notify it in an official manner? A pre-arrangement with Manchester City? The Della Vale family (Fiorentina’s owners) has excellent relations with City but there is no preliminary contracts with anyone. Jo-Jo is our player and he will be at least until the end of the season.

Jovetic, who has 10 goals in 21 appearances for his country, first announced himself to British audiences with two goals against Liverpool in the 2009-10 Champions League campaign and after an injury plagued 2010-11 campaign, returned to hit 14 league goals in just 27 appearances last season for Fiorentina as he helped rescue La Viola from relegation.

City continue their defence of their Premier League title with a trip to Stoke on Saturday before beginning their Champions League challenge with a glamour tie away to Real Madrid in Bernabeu three days later.
