Liverpool midfielder Nuri Sahin has rejected suggestions that he chose to join the Reds rather than Premier League rivals Arsenal because the Anfield club were willing to pay him more money, the
Sahin is on a season-long loan from Real Madrid and had appeared set to move to the Emirates Stadium, only for Brendan Rodgers to snatch the Turkey international away from Arsene Wenger. Sahin insisted that he joined Liverpool because he was excited at the prospect of playing for the club and particularly playing under new manager Rodgers.
He added that to suggest he moved to Liverpool because there is the potential to earn more money is wide of the mark and totally out of character for him. Sahin continued: “The only reason I’m here is that I know I can play football here. I have a manager who trusts me and the way I play and I’m at a huge club.”
Sahin went on to compare Rodgers to his former manager at Borussia Dortmund, Jurgen Klopp, who has guided his side to consecutive Bundesliga titles even after Sahin moved to Real Madrid a year ago.
