Szczesny set to return for Arsenal

Arsenal are set to welcome back their first choice goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny from injury for their clash with bottom of the table Southampton as the Premier League resumes this weekend following the international break, the Daily Mirror reports.

Szczesny has been missing since the opening day of the season with a rib injury and in his and second choice Lukas Fabianski’s absence, back-up ‘keeper Vito Mannone has kept two consecutive clean sheets between the sticks for the Gunners.

However with Szczesny now fit again, the Mirror adds that the Pole is set to go straight back into the Arsenal side against the Saints, who are yet to pick up a point so far in a tough return to the Premier League, which has seen them take on both Manchester City and Manchester United before their trip to the Emirates on Saturday.

Szczesny established himself as Arsene Wenger’s first choice goalkeeper in January 2011 and was an ever present last season in the Premier League for the Gunners, starting in every single match to confirm his position as the club’s No. 1.
