Lloris moved to Spurs from Lyon late in the summer transfer window but has yet to dislodge the experienced Friedel from the starting XI, sitting out the Premier League games so far and appearing only in the Europa League. Friedel, however, retorted via Twitter: “Just saw Barthez comments. I normally don’t comment on such crap but when disrespected by someone I don’t respect I must. Barthez was ignorant, disrespectful and out of order to mention my name.”
Lloris kept a clean sheet against Lazio on his Tottenham debut, insisting after the match that there is no issue between himself and Friedel, vowing to continue working hard to impress Villas-Boas and admitting that he can use the time on the substitutes bench to adapt better to his new surroundings.
