Tottenham’s Kyle Naughton has ambitions of cementing his place as his side’s left-back after first choice following the injury to first-choice Benoit Assou-Ekotto that is set to keep him out for up to a month.
According to Goal,
Now, despite his preference to play right-back, Naughton believes he is ready to take advantage of Assou Ekotto’s absence to finally make his mark in the Tottenham first team.
“I played at left-back a few times for Norwich last season and hopefully now I can carry on playing,” said Naughton. “It was great to get the three points (against Reading) and that the gaffer gave me a chance to show what I can do. Towards the end I was tiring a little and they got in behind us a little but the more games I play, hopefully the stronger I’ll get.”
Following their first victory under Andre Villas-Boas on Sunday at Reading, Spurs face Italian giants Lazio in their opening group match in the Europa League before welcoming QPR to White Hart Lane on Sunday for a London derby.
