Arsenal appear to be attempting to tap into the Olympic spirit as they look to end their quest for a first trophy in eight years with the help of American sprinting legend Michael Johnson. Johnson took his place at the Arsenal training ground on Tuesday as Arsene Wenger’s men geared up for their Champions League clash with Greek side Olympiakos on Wednesday night.
According to the
“[Johnson] has no role at the club, but his school we sometimes co-operate with,” said Wenger. “For example, if a player needs to work on some aspect of his physical [training] in the summer period we send them there for preparation. It is a fantastic school but he is not directly involved with our team. This summer it was Miquel and a few youth players.”
Following the end of their unbeaten run with a disappointing home defeat to rivals Chelsea at the weekend, Arsenal will be hoping to kick-start a good run of form and continue their unbeaten start in the Champions League this season at home to Olympiakos.
