Chelsea are reportedly set to make a renewed effort to purchase French striker Loic Remy in an effort to provide competition for Fernando Torres.
Indeed, according to ESPN,
Efforts were reportedly made towards the end of the transfer window to bring the France international to Stamford Bridge, but interest cooled when Daniel Sturridge refused to move to Liverpool.
However, Sturridge has since yet to start this season and with rumours arising that the England international will leave the European champions in the summer, the acquisition of Remy has become a target once more for the Chelsea hierarchy.
Remy scored 20 goals last season in 42 appearances for Marseille and was expected to be part of France’s Euro 2012 squad only to be ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
