Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he will continue his goalkeeping rotation policy despite David De Gea’s good performance against CFR Cluj in the Champions League.
Although De Gea started this season as the Red Devil’s first choice, an error in the home win over Fulham saw the Spaniard dropped and a rotation policy implemented with Danish counterpart Anders Lindegaard with De Gea taking all Champions League and cup clashes while Lindegaard is the preferred Premier League choice.
However, according to the the
“He [De Gea] was excellent [against Cluj],” said Ferguson. “He is an outstanding goalkeeper, the yougn lad, he is getting better all the time. I don’t know whether I should play him on Sunday or not but the way we have been doing it in the last few weeks has worked quite well for us. Everybody wants to play, goalkeepers are no different, but the way I look at it at the moment is getting the two of them experience that will help me in the long term.”
Following United’s first defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur in 23 years last Saturday, Sir Alex Ferguson’s men lie third in the Premier League table, four points off leaders Chelsea and travel to Newcastle on Sunday looking to avenge their 3-0 defeat to the Magpies at the Sports Direct Arena last season.
