Juventus looking to beat Arsenal to Llorente signing

Juventus are reportedly looking to snatch Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente away from Arsenal. The Italian giants have been on the lookout for a top striker for some time and had been interested in former Gunners captain Robin van Persie in the summer before the Dutchman eventually chose to move to Manchester United.

However, the Daily Mirror are now reporting that the reigning Serie A champions are eyeing up Spain international Llorente in January and could be set to better Arsenal’s offer in terms of wages for the 27-year-old.

Llorente is in the final year of his contract and after refusing to extend his deal at Bilbao following a bust-up with manager Marcelo Bielsa, could be sold for a cut-price fee in January to avoid him leaving on a Bosman free transfer.

Llorente scored 29 goals last season as he helped the Basque club reach the Europa League final, impressively dispatching Manchester United along the way.
