Kompany satisfied with Man City start

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany believes his side have made a good start to the season, although he acknowledges that the Premier League champions are yet to hit their best form.

Kompany is one of a number of City players that have come in for criticism after making a relatively sluggish start to the campaign, particularly defensively where the Citizens have only kept one clean sheet in all competitions.

However, according to the Daily Telegraph, Kompany, who scored for Belgium in their midweek World Cup qualification victory over Scotland, believes his charges are well placed.

We are exactly where we wanted to be,” said the central-defender.

Second or third place and there are still a lot of games to play. We are just getting through them. There will be moments when we will really switch it on.It’s already positive for us to pick up so many points when people say maybe we didn’t play our best games, but I think we have to be happy with the results. If we can still step it up, it’s going to be a great season for us again.

City travel to in-form West Brom on Saturday afternoon looking for their third Premier League win on the bounce, before travelling to Ajax in midweek for their crucial third Champions League group match.
