Lewandowski aiming to banish Champions League frustration with goal past Hart

Poland striker Robert Lewandowski is targeting a goal against England goalkeeper Joe Hart as an act of revenge for the Manchester City custodian performing with such excellence against Lewandowski’s club, Borussia Dortmund, in the Champions League, the Daily Mirror has reported.

City and Dortmund drew 1-1 at the Etihad Stadium recently, but if not for Hart then the Bundesliga champions would have run away with the score line. As it was, Hart’s series of stunning saves kept the Premier League holders in the contest, allowing Mario Balotelli to level the scores with a last minute penalty.

Lewandowski though praised Hart for his performance when the clubs met, adding that he hopes his form has not carried through to the international set-up. Lewandowski – who has been linked with a move to Manchester United but denied any interest in leaving Dortmund – was effusive in his praise for Hart.

He said: “Hart was incredible against us. He saved his team and I only hope that his luck does not follow. Nobody can doubt that Hart is one of the best keepers in the world and that’s why it will be difficult to get a victory against England.
