Man Utd set to watch Lewandowski take on neighbours Man City

Despite the wealth of attacking options at Manchester United at the moment, Sir Alex Ferguson could be set to make a fresh approach for Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski.

The Daily Mail reports that the prolific Poland international, who scored 30 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund last season and was reportedly the subject of a rejected bid from Ferguson in the summer, will be watched by the 70-year-old at Dortmund’s Champions League clash with Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Lewandowski, who also scored for his country in the opening match of Euro 2012, has yet to sign an extension on his contract which currently runs out in 2014. This could appeal to United, who acquired the striker’s former teammate Shinji Kagawa for a cut-price fee after the Japan playmaker entered the last 12 months of his contract at the Signal Iduna Park.
