Manchester United will look to swap Portugal star Luis Nani, wanted by Serie A pair Juventus and Milan, for Porto’s Colombia international James Rodriguez, the
United are thought to be willing to let Nani leave after hesitating over offering the international a new deal and sanctioning his sale to Zenit St Petersburg, a move that collapsed only because of Nani’s wage demands. A fee of £12m has been suggested as enough for either Italian side to prise Nani from Old Trafford.
Should Nani move on then Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to act upon his interest in Rodriguez, a player the Mirror claims is known as the “South American Cristiano Ronaldo” and one who has spoken of United’s interest in him in the past.
Rodriguez, 21, began his senior career in his homeland with Envigado, spending two years at the club before a move to Banfield of Argentina. He again spent two years with Banfield before coming to Europe with Porto in 2010, where he has made almost 80 appearances so far. Last season, Rodriguez scored 14 goals in 38 games.
