Wilshere tells Wenger he is ready for Arsenal first team comeback

Jack Wilshere has reportedly implored Arsene Wenger to allow him to make his return to the Arsenal first team in the Gunners’ next Premier League match against Norwich City on Saturday, according to the Daily Mail.

Wilshere played 90 minutes of the Arsenal vs. Chelsea friendly fixture in midweek and has two appearances for the club’s U-21 side under his belt following his comeback from a series of lingering ankle, foot and knee injuries.

Wenger however has been particularly cautious regarding the timetable of Wilshere’s return to full action after the England midfielder has spent more than a year out injured, with the manager not willing to take any unnecessary risks with his fragile prodigy. The Mail adds though that even if Wenger does not include Wilshere in the squad to face the Canaires at Carrow Road, Wilshere is likely to make a full return sooner rather than later.

There was further positive injury news for Arsenal for the Chelsea fixture, despite losing the game 2-0. Bacary Sagna, the France international full-back missing since breaking his leg against Norwich late last season, also played the full game, although the news that goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski faces three months on the sidelines with ruptured ankle ligaments has tempered the positivity somewhat.
