Arsenal and Manchester United are ready to face off as each club prepares to try and tempt Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze to the Premier League, the
Gotze’s contract contains a release clause that allows him to leave the Bundesliga club for £30m, but only if the offer is received in writing by April. The clause also expires in July, leaving Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson scrambling to sign the 20-year-old before his price sky rockets in the summer.
Real Madrid are also said to be interested in the playmaker after seeing him up close in the Champions League this season. Gotze was part of the Dortmund side that led against Madrid in the Santiago Bernabeu until Gotze’s compatriot Mesut Ozil converted an 89th minute free-kick to level the scores. Dortmund had previously beaten Madrid in Germany 2-1, with Gotze again involved for the German champions.
