Theo Walcott is firmly on Chelsea’s radar, according to the Telegraph.
The 23-year-old former Southampton player, who has been at Arsenal for almost seven years, is out of contract in the summer and with Arsenal slipping down the league and having not won a trophy since 2007, the England international could be tempted across London.
As Walcott’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, Chelsea could pick up the player on a free transfer.
He has made no secret of his desire to play as a striker rather than a winger at the Emirates stadium but Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger clearly doesn’t agree, having supplemented his squad with the strikers Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski pre-season.
The temptation of playing as a striker for a team regularly and seriously challenging for honours could be enough to convince Walcott to move on.
This poses a serious transfer problem for Wenger again who could face losing yet another of his “big name” players to a close rival.
