Joe Cole believes he can still contribute at Liverpool after starring in the Reds’ 2-2 Europa League draw with Young Boys, Sky
The former Chelsea midfielder scored one and made the other on what was ultimately a frustrating night for the Anfield side, as they missed out on the victory that would have guaranteed a safe passage out of the group stage. As a consequence, Liverpool will have to go to Udinese and return with at least a point in the final match in the group.
Cole however entered what Sky Sports considered his best showing of the season under manager Brendan Rodgers, with Cole admitting he is keen to force his way into the plans of the new boss.
Having spent last season away from Anfield, on loan at Ligue 1 club Lille, Cole is effectively starting from scratch but has been held back by a hamstring injury suffered earlier in the campaign.
Cole said: “I was a good player at West Ham, Chelsea and Lille and I think I can be a good player at Liverpool. I’m getting stronger with every game. It is normal that a player wants to play all the time. It was my third game back from a hamstring problem and I felt good.”
