Tottenham defender Michael Dawson is set to refuse a January move to reunite with Queens Park Rangers, despite Harry Redknapp’s recent appointment at Loftus Road.
Dawson became a regular in Redknapp’s Spurs side, but was widely linked with a move to QPR in the August transfer window, following the appointment of Andre Villas-Boas at White Hart Lane.
But since forcing his way into the Tottenham side in the weekend’s 3-1 victory over West Ham, Dawson has played down the possibility of such a move in January.
Talking to the Daily
“You’ve got to keep your head down, work hard and when your chance comes you’ve got to go out and perform.”
Talking just after his appointment, Redknapp was also coy on the chances of making the move: “Michael Dawson’s a top player and was a captain at Tottenham. Transfer speculation is not on my mind at all as I am only thinking of group I have here.”
The 29-year-old joined Spurs in 2004 from Nottingham Forest and has made 181 league appearances for the club. Last season the England capped defender ruptured ankle ligaments early in the season, and featured in only seven league matches.
