Jones keen to extend Liverpool stay

Brad Jones is eager to agree a new contract at Liverpool after dislodging Pepe Reina as Brendan Rodgers’ first choice goalkeeper, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Jones’ current deal expires next summer and the Australian is not looking to leave Anfield even if he was to be dropped by Rodgers in the future. The Mirror claims Jones would be happy to remain at the club even as Reina’s No. 2, a position he has held for most of his Liverpool tenure until capitalising recently on a Reina injury to earn a run in the side.

The former Middlesbrough player has started the last four Premier League games, keeping a clean sheet against Reading, having previously been restricted to Europa League and Capital One Cup action.

Jones has been at Liverpool since the summer of 2010, spending time last year on loan at Championship outfit Derby County and nearly joined Norwich City on a permanent deal this summer, the newspaper adds.
