Man City boss Mancini accuses Madrid counterpart Mourinho of jealousy

Roberto Mancini has accused Jose Mourinho of jealousy after the Real Madrid Coach criticised the Premier League champions for their early exit from the Champions League, the Daily Mail has reported.

City cannot get out of the group despite their still being a round of fixtures to play, with Mancini’s side adrift of Madrid and group winners Borussia Dortmund. City have not won a game in the competition this season, drawing all of their home matches and losing the away returns, failing to improve on last season’s outcome when they also fell at the first hurdle.

Mourinho said at his press conference following the 1-1 draw between the sides on Wednesday that if he had failed to take Madrid out of the Champions League group stages two years in a row, he would be sacked. Indeed, the former Chelsea boss claimed, tongue-in-cheek, that he would not be able to return to Madrid if that was the case.

Mancini replied: “Mourinho is not my chairman. He is not my owner. What Mourinho said is for me not interesting. Mourinho wants to talk about everything. For me, it is not important. Sometimes it could be (jealousy).
