Man Utd scouts make repeat visits to Porto winger Rodriguez

Manchester United’s scouts should be well versed in the details of Porto winger James Rodriguez as the Daily Mirror reports Sir Alex Ferguson’s staff have watched the Colombia international on seven different occasions.

The most recent scouting mission came just this past Sunday as Ferguson sent observers to see Porto play Academica, with Rodriguez on the score sheet in a 2-1 victory for Rodriguez’s team. Joao Moutinho got the other goal of the game for the defending Portuguese champions, who top the table on goal difference from perennial challengers Benfica.

Porto have however been adamant that they do not want to lose Rodriguez, having sold Hulk in the summer transfer window to Zenit St. Petersburg. Rodriguez however has a release clause in his contract, the Mirror claims, setting his value at £24m.

If Ferguson decides to meet Rodriguez’s exit fee then it could be as a replacement for former Sporting Lisbon winger Luis Nani, the newspaper adds.
