Bale did however add that he was not looking to leave White Hart Lane at the very first opportunity provided by a continental club. Rather, the Wales international said: “If the time comes and a team that is right comes in for me, then I will look at it seriously. I will see what happens.”
The 23-year-old has been a Tottenham player since 2007, making more than 150 appearances for the London club and scoring more than 30 goals. Starting his career at Southampton, Bale had less than 50 games under his belt before joining the Premier League side from the Saints, then a Championship outfit.
Originally a left-back, Bale has moved into a more advanced role as his career has progressed and last season enjoyed his most prolific in terms of goals, finding the back of the net 12 times in 42 games, bettering his record of a year earlier by a single goal.
