Arsenal, Man Utd and Tottenham chasing Strootman

Kevin Strootman is attracting the attention of three of the biggest clubs in the Premier League, the Daily Mail has reported, as Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur prepare to do battle for the signature of the PSV Eindhoven midfielder.

The three teams each had representatives present at PSV’s weekend match with reigning Dutch champions Ajax, with Arsenal chief scout Steve Rowley there on behalf of Arsene Wenger. The interested parties saw Ajax beat PSV 3-1.

Strootman played the full 90 minutes but could not help his side to victory, as goals from Siem de Jong, Viktor Fischer and Danny Hoesen gave Frank de Boer’s side the points. Jeremain Lens replied for PSV, who remain above Ajax in the Eredivisie but drop to third, a point behind league leaders FC Twente. Ajax are fourth, three points adrift of PSV.

The Mail suggest it would take an offer of around £20m to convince PSV to part with Strootman, a Netherlands international who has 15 caps for his country to his name. Arsenal are said to want to add Strootman’s international colleague Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to their ranks as well.
