Steve Bould launched a blistering verbal assault on Arsenal’s players in the aftermath of the Gunners’ 2-0 defeat at home to Swansea City on Saturday, the
The former centre-back, appointed assistant manager to Arsene Wenger in the summer after the retirement of the long-serving Pat Rice, is said to have told the players in no uncertain terms that they have to improve. The Mirror quotes Bould as saying, with voice raised, that “You’ve let us down and you’ve been letting us down all season,” and “None of you are taking responsibility.”
Bould’s dressing down lasted 40 minutes, the newspaper adds, with Arsenal left 10th in the table following the defeat by the Welsh side as Wenger endures the worst start to a season in his 16 years at the club.
Some of Arsenal’s players are said to be feeling exhausted after a tough start to the season, while others are complaining privately that training has not been altered to take into account the tiredness of some players. Wenger is expected to rest five or six players for Arsenal’s dead rubber Champions League tie with Olympiakos on Tuesday.
