Benitez plotting Chelsea overhaul

Rafael Benitez will change the way his Chelsea side play in an effort to find a winning formula and avoid the displeasure of owner Roman Abramovich, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Benitez is expected to make a number of alterations to the starting XI when Chelsea play Nordsjaelland in the Champions League on Wednesday, with Brazil midfielder Ramires one of the players likely to drop out. The newspaper adds that Benitez does not believe Ramires has the discipline to play in central midfield.

The manager is also understood to be unhappy with options in midfield further forward. Benitez can call on Juan Mata, Oscar and Eden Hazard, three players he acknowledges are deeply talented, but feels are too similar. Benitez is likely to give the powerful Victor Moses an opportunity to earn a long run in the side, having started the former Wigan Athletic player against West Ham United on Saturday.

Chelsea must beat Nordsjaelland and hope the match between Shakhtar Donetsk and Juventus ends in a favourable result for them, otherwise they will become the first holders of the Champions League to be eliminated at the group stage.
