Rafael Benitez insists he does not feel under pressure at Chelsea, despite his side being eliminated from the Champions League and falling off the pace in the Premier League, Reuters
Benitez has taken Chelsea to Japan for the Club World Cup, with Monterrey of Mexico the opposition on Thursday. If Chelsea overcome the CONCACAF Champions League winners they would meet either Al-Ahly of Egypt or Brazil’s Corinthians, who play each other on Wednesday. The final is held on Sunday.
Chelsea have recorded two wins and six goals in their last two games, putting six past Nordsjaelland in their final Champions League game and beating Sunderland 3-1 at the Stadium of Light on Saturday. But the European victory was in vain as other results saw the holders eliminated before Christmas for the first time, while despite the league win Chelsea are still 10 points adrift of leaders Manchester United.
Benitez said: “With the economic crisis around the world everybody is under pressure. I don’t have a problem with pressure. The future is the next game and the one after that.”
