Jose Mourinho has the attention of three of the biggest teams in the Premier League – Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea – as the Real Madrid coach considers his next move amid rumours that his time in La Liga is drawing to an end, the
Mourinho is said by the Mail to look increasingly like he is ready to clear out his office at the Santiago Bernabeu, having faced criticism from a section of supporters and seen his Madrid side slip off the pace, with Barcelona building up an 11 point lead at the top of the table. Madrid are third in La Liga, five points behind city rivals Atletico despite a 2-0 win in the Madrid derby at the weekend.
A report in the Spanish media claimed that Madrid and Mourinho would undergo a divorce in the summer, bringing an end to the Portuguese’s tenure at the club. He was appointed in 2010, having just led Inter to victory in the Champions League, and if he repeats that feat with Madrid this season would be the first manager to win the trophy with clubs from three different countries, having also claimed the prize with Porto.
The Mail believes a move to Man City should be considered Mourinho’s most likely next step, but a return to Chelsea is also a possibility while the friendship between Mourinho and Sir Alex Ferguson means that when the Scot does eventually retire, he could recommend Mourinho as his successor.
