Former Chelsea winger Kalou linked with Premier League return

Salomon Kalou could be set to make a return to the Premier League in January only months after leaving Chelsea for Ligue 1 side Lille, the Daily Mail has reported. Everton, Queens Park Rangers and West Ham United are said to be interested in the Ivory Coast international.

The trio originally wanted to sign Kalou upon his departure from Stamford Bridge, only for Lille to trump the English clubs and sign the 27-year-old on a free transfer. But after an unproductive first half-season in France, Kalou could be made available by his new employers.

Kalou has scored three times in 17 games this season as Lille toil in mid-table, sitting 11th, nine points short of league leaders Paris Saint-Germain. The Mail adds that Kalou’s high wages could be a bar to his Premier League return.

The former Feyenoord player spent six years at Chelsea, winning the Premier League and League Cup once, the FA Cup four times and the Champions League once, in his final appearance for the London club.
