Mario Balotelli could be facing the end of his Manchester City career after the Italy international was linked with a loan move to Milan, having raised the ire of Roberto Mancini with his performance in the Manchester derby, the
Balotelli was substituted after less than an hour in the defeat to Manchester United, a result that leaves City six points adrift of their near neighbours and brought an end to their unbeaten run in the Premier League. The striker’s poor showing is said to have been the final straw for Mancini, who is open to a loan exit for Balotelli before a permanent departure in the summer.
Milan are unable to afford City’s asking price on a transfer, the Mirror adds, but a loan switch would prove more agreeable. City had hoped to sell Balotelli to fund the purchase of a new centre-forward, either Radamel Falcao or Luis Suarez, but after being eliminated from the Champions League, a replacement is not needed quite so urgently.
Balotelli’s agent denies that his client will be leaving the Etihad Stadium in January, insisting that he will still be at the club when the transfer window closes at the end of the month. So far this season, Balotelli has scored only three times, with one of those goals coming in the Premier League, compared to the 14 goals for his club Balotelli netted in the last campaign.
