Man Utd youngster Henriquez linked with Wigan loan

Manchester United could be ready to send their young Chile striker Angelo Henriquez on loan to fellow Premier League side Wigan Athletic, the Daily Mirror has reported, as Latics boss Roberto Martinez seeks attacking cover in the January transfer window.

Martinez is specifically searching for an alternative to Arouna Kone, who is due to play in the Africa Nations Cup for the Ivory Coast. The Ivory Coast’s first match is due to take place against Togo on January 22, with a training camp held in the weeks before, with Wigan due to play Sunderland on January 19, Stoke City on the 29th and Southampton in early February, amongst other fixtures Kone would miss.

Henriquez joined United in the summer from Universidad de Chile, where he scored 11 goals in 17 first team games, but has yet to feature in the first team under Sir Alex Ferguson. The 18-year-old has however appeared for the senior Chile side, scoring on his debut in November 2012 against Serbia in a 3-1 defeat.
