Former Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo will return to Old Trafford in the Champions League as Real Madrid meet Sir Alex Ferguson’s side, the BBC
Madrid will host the first leg of the fixture in mid-February with the return in Manchester in March, with Jose Mourinho coming face-to-face with Ferguson after the two did battle in the Premier League while Mourinho was manager of Chelsea.
Ronaldo spent six years at United, moving to the club in 2003 from Sporting Lisbon and leaving for a world record £80m fee in 2009. In his time at United Ronaldo won the Premier League title three times, the FA Cup once, the League Cup twice and the Champions League in 2008.
With Madrid the Portugal captain has won the Spanish title once, in 2012, and the Copa del Rey a year earlier. Madrid are currently 13 points adrift of Barcelona, sitting third in La Liga, behind city rivals Atletico.
