Huddlestone is one of three players the Mirror claims Reading are chasing, with the others out-of-favour Liverpool attacking midfielder Joe Cole and Blackburn Rovers’ former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson. Huddlestone could be available after falling behind Sandro and Moussa Dembele in the White Hart Lane pecking order.
McDermott has admitted he hopes for a busy transfer window. The Royals manager added that he feels his side has suffered from the lack of Premier League know-how in the squad, insisting however that any signings made in January will be the result of long-term planning rather than short-term panic.

Huddlestone has made 136 Premier League appearances for Spurs, scoring eight goals. In total, the 25-year-old played almost 200 times for Tottenham, hitting the back of the net on 15 occasions in his seven-and-a-half years at White Hart Lane.
